Training of specialists

8 to 9 out of 10 women in Peru are affected by intimate partner violence. The plight of the families is great. In July 2023, Daniela Hirt, social worker and perpetrator work specialist from Germany, and Stephan Martin from Männerbüro Züri, conducted a 2-week intensive training on working with perpetrators of domestic gender-based violence for Estación Esperanza staff as well as other interested professionals.

Coordination Center for the Prevention and Combating of Violence against Women and Family Members

Thanks to this commitment, the possibility of a “Coordination Center for Prevention and Combating of Violence against Women and Family Members” has now opened up in the municipality of the district of Mí Perú. Estación Esperanza is involved along with other related professionals from the community (e.g. psychologists, police, social workers from the emergency center for women, health center, mayor). In July 2023, an action plan to combat violence against women and family members was approved, which includes prevention and different intervention measures.

Perpetrator work

Perpetrator work is an important part of violence prevention and victim protection. The goal of perpetrator work is that violent men have a place to go to unlearn their violent behavior and develop empathy for the victim.
